I’m going to show you a few design tips you can speed up your learning, improve your UX/UI design skills and understanding of good design patterns.

Getting started
When starting out i knew how a good design is supposed to look like but i couldn’t really replicate it with my own work. If this happens to you too – try this. Find an app you like, download a few screenshots from any flow, and replace them on your art board

Tracing
Place your screenshots on an artboard, reduce the opacity to around 20% and lock the layer. Start tracing the design component by component. Leave one screenshot on the side for reference when applying design colors and styles.

Analyzing
Compare your designs to the original and study them. Find out how’s the app solving the user problems. Analyse the spacing and margin values used to space out elements in the designs. Try to dig really deep and understand.

Find good examples
One of my favorite places to look for really good designs with well-thought out UX is mobbin.com. Try to steer away from Dribble as 90% of the work there is made to look good and is not always usable in real-life scenarios.

Think in patterns
If you want to get better at UI – look for patterns. When searching for a solution try to look for similarities, and see how different apps, solve the same problems. See what’s working for them and compare. Analyse them really carefully
